Water damage
Water extraction and drying in Castle Rock, Colorado
Extraction removes the water you can see. Drying removes the water you cannot. Both are needed before anyone closes a wall back up.
Calling early helps.

Extraction
Pumps and wet vacuums pull standing water off floors. On carpet over pad, a weighted extractor presses water out of the fibers and the pad underneath.
In a basement, this step also means checking where the water entered so that it does not keep coming.

Structural drying
Once the surface is clear, the wet is inside the materials. Air movers, dehumidifiers and sometimes small holes cut at the base of drywall let the moisture leave the cavity.
Indoor humidity matters. The EPA suggests keeping it between 30 and 50 percent.

Checking that it worked
The contractor reads moisture levels on the wettest points each visit and compares them with a dry reference spot on the same material. When the readings match, the equipment comes out.
Things to have ready for the call
- Where the water came from, and whether it is stopped
- Which floor and which rooms are wet
- Whether the water was clean, or came from a drain or sewer
- Whether the power in the area is off, and any standing water near outlets
- Your insurance company name, if you already know it
Water is spreading. Call now.
The call goes to an independent restoration contractor who serves Douglas County. Calling early matters because wet drywall and subfloor start to break down quickly.
